I'm Joe Reis, data + AI engineer/architect and "recovering data scientist."
I grew up in the beautiful, desolate mountains of Wyoming. An early computer nerd in the 80s and a bookworm with a penchant for manual labor and off-the-beaten-path adventures. Before studying mathematics at the University of Utah, I spent my time as a full-time rock climber (climbed 5.14a and bouldered V11), professional DJ, and construction worker. I've always worked with data, usually the gnarly kind. I practiced data science and ML back when it was uncool and "lame." Today, I'm a fundamentals-first thinker with zero patience for hype cycles that fail to deliver.
I live in Salt Lake City with my family and goldendoodle Lana.
